Head Coach: BRYCE SCHANBACHER
2021: 3-8
OFFENSE
The Chiefs enter the 2022 season eager to take the field and show what they can do. Head coach Bryce Schanbacher returns six starters on the offensive side of the ball and seven on defense. “We have a good group returning this season. Many of our players played a lot last season as underclassmen and are ready to step up and lead our team in the right direction,” said Schanbacher. Kai McHenry (6-1, 195, Jr.) will quarterback the single-back offense in the option-based scheme coach Schanbacher will utilize this season. Kolby Roberts (6-2, 160, Sr.) will start at receiver giving McHenry a legit option in the passing game. Lathan Golden (5-8, 165, Sr.) and Nathan Phillips (5-10, 185, Sr.) will handle the rock for the Chiefs and be the go-to players in the run game. Brant Failes (5-11, 230, Sr.) starts at center with Aiden Sanborn (6-0, 210, Sr.) joining him up front.
DEFENSE
Sanborn will be a big problem for opposing offenses to handle at his defensive end spot. Failes will start at the nose giving the Chiefs a formidable front. Roberts will slide to safety with Golden starting at one of the corner spots. McHenry and Phillips will work at linebacker. “Our defense is a gap control defense designed to spill everything outside and take away the big plays,” said coach Schanbacher. Also look for Tony Macias, an underclassman who may start at corner this season.
