Grant Biggers is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at Chisholm High School. He says he enjoys a lot of things about the group, but most of all how it helps him grow in his faith.
“I was first introduced to FCA when one of my coaches sent out an announcement during my freshman year,” he said. “I thought about it and how joining FCA could help me find strength and guidance through the rough parts of my high school career. God is very important to me. I may not always do what I should, but I always seek Him through rough patches in life.”
A senior at Chisholm, Biggers is a dual sport athlete. He plays receiver and safety on the football field and then plays centerfield and pitches for the Longhorns baseball team. Sports have been a part of his life for a long time.
“I have played sports most of my life,” he said. “I have grown up with sports and they teach me lessons you can’t learn anywhere else. They are an outlet for me to show my commitment and my abilities.”
Throughout his life, Grant says that he has been influenced by different people. Two people that have made the biggest impact are his dad and a former coach.
“My dad is definitely my biggest role model,” he said. “He has raised me and taught me not to give up and not to back down when things get hard. He has pushed me to be my best. Also, my old football coach, coach Reinart, was someone who made me who I am as a player. He knew who I was going to be and knew my potential. Each and every one of my teammates who stood by my side and pushed along with me through those hot summer workouts through the years and doing their jobs on and off the field influenced me to be my best.”
Becoming the best athlete he can be has required a lot from Grant, but he said that the work will all be worth it.
“It has taken nonstop work, dedication, accountability, and mental toughness,” he said. “While the scores don’t end up the way I want all the time, I am still proud to be a Longhorn.”
