Drummond’s Kelton Arnold – Athlete spotlight presented by Stevens Ford

By Jay Hoberecht

Kelton Arnold is a junior at Drummond High School. He plays baseball and basketball for the Bulldogs.  He is the point guard on the basketball team and pitches and plays shortstop on the baseball team. His coaches, first year head coach Elliott Alberson in baseball and first year head coach Brady Kokojan in basketball, said the same things about him almost word for word.  Both said Arnold is a super hard working young man, talented and has some serious upside potential.  Coach Alberson added that Arnold is a smart baseball player with a live arm and a good stick.  Arnold likes baseball the best because he is much better at it and loves to be outside playing the game.

In addition to sports, Arnold is involved with FCA and FFA.  He likes Ag mechanics and has built a load-out shoot with a group of guys.  The project will be judged this spring.  He also likes livestock judging and will be involved with judging at the district livestock show.

Arnold praised the Bulldog baseball team.

“Although the team is young, they work hard together and played well together last fall.”

Arnold joked that last year was the first time he was allowed to throw a curve ball.

“Former head coach Jared Swart had told me that I could throw a curve after I shaved for the first time. So, one day last year I went to practice and told coach Swart I had shaved and true to his word, he let me throw a curve.  Now it’s my go- to pitch.”

When asked what advice he would give a young player Kelton quickly said,

“Work hard and stay with it.”
