OFFENSE
Yellowjackets head coach Robert Bernard says while last season did not go as planned, he is excited to see this year’s team in action. “We will be experienced on both sides of the football,” he said. “We have been a young team the last two years, so those kids have a lot of experience and have grown up fast.” Brenner Fortune (6-0, 175, Sr.) will be the backbone of an offensive unit that returns nine starters from a year ago. He can pass, run, and catch the ball and he compiled 1,307 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns last year. He will also have some familiar targets at his disposal again this season. Running back Blake Perez (6-0, 185, Jr.), wide receiver Isaiah Burris (5-8, 165, So.), and tight end Austin Houk (6-2, 210, Jr.) will all look to have a big impact on this season. Upfront, Sawyer Hutchison (6-0, 240, Sr.) and Austin Hodgden (6-2, 250, Sr.) will do the dirty work to help the team succeed.
DEFENSE
The Fairview defense also brings back a majority of its starters from a year ago. Some of the offensive starters will also spend time on the defensive side. Hutchison and Houk will be at defensive end, while Fortune and Burris will line up in the secondary, and Perez will be at linebacker. Tegan Gilchrist (5-10, 175, So.) will also play linebacker and had 76 tackles last season.
