Coach: Fletcher Reed
22-23 Record: 19-9
Garber’s road map to the Big House may have fewer road blocks this season as the Wolverines return a great deal of playmakers to the court. Head coach Fletcher Reed is embracing the high expectations that come with the program. “Expectations are high for the Wolverines this upcoming season with aspirations of getting back to the big house. Returning most of the core from last year’s group, the Wolverines will be explosive and balanced on the offensive side of the ball.
Versatility and athleticism will be on full display on the defensive end with the willingness to do the little things such as taking charges and diving on loose balls,” said Reed. The return of Colton Steinert (6-1, Jr.) as the leading scorer for Garber is big. Last season Steinert averaged 17 points a game with 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Mark Bishop (6-0, Jr.) is another prolific scorer who averaged 10.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. Bishop has a high motor at point guard and is a threat for a double-double every night. Brett Howry (6-3, Jr.) averaged 14 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as a sophomore. Howry is the third cog in the scoring wheel for the Wolverines. Another guard making noise is Domingo Ramirez (6-1, Jr) who accounted for 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. Another name Garber fans are familiar with is Kooper Hughes (6-4, Jr.) who plays the post and has a knack for rebounds. Hughes averaged 6.0 points and 6.0 rebounds last year. Other players to watch include Jackson Weibling (6-2, Jr.), Treven Blaser (6-4, Jr.), Kennon Sharp (5-10, So.), Nic Najera (6-0, So.), and Gavin Schmidt (6-0, So.). Sharp has developed into an inside/outside threat with the ball giving coach Reed someone who can come in and give the team quality minutes.
