Hammon’s Henley West – FFA Spotlight Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Henley West is no stranger to the spotlight. The Hammon High School junior is a member of the varsity basketball team and a member of the FFA chapter at HHS. As a member of the basketball team, West helped her team to a Class B state title as a sophomore in 2023 and was named the Class B tournament MVP. West said she loves her teammates and considers them more like family.

“I love how they always pick me up when I’m not doing my best. They constantly put a smile on my face and make me laugh. They are my sisters and the best family which is very important to me,” said West.

After some encouragement from her father, West joined the FFA chapter in the eighth grade and her love for agriculture grew. During her time in FFA, West has been involved in many activities.

“In the past, I have been involved in showing wheat, crop, and range land judging, and conduct of chapter meetings. I am still unsure about the contests I will be in this year, but I am very excited to try something new! I am also the current Vice-President of the chapter,” said West.

West encourages anyone interested in FFA to give it a try.

“I would say, to enjoy every moment. Try new things and have tons of confidence in yourself. You will meet amazing people and make countless memories. I enjoy the amazing people and the countless memories that you make,” said West.

The junior plans to attend college and pursue a degree in agribusiness. West said her parents continue to support her and the decisions she is making for her future.

“My parents have been a huge influence. They are always pushing me to be my best. They pick me up when I’m down and are my biggest supporters,” said West.
