Kleat Martens was born to be a quarterback. His dad had wanted to name his son after something sports-related, and Kleat fit the bill. The sophomore from Hooker not only plays quarterback but is also on the relay teams for the track squad.
Kleat’s dad is a major factor in his life. “He pushes me and motivates me in everything that I do,” Kleat said when asked if he has anyone in his life that was a strong influence on his athletic prowess.
Kleat also knows the importance of being a team player. He said that the whole team worked hard and no one wanted to let the other guy down. This is just what the relay teams did at a meet in Liberal, KS against bigger schools, some as big as 6A but that didn’t stop the Bulldogs from winning the sprint relay and the mile relay. For Kleat, working hard and getting better with his teammates is his main motivation and it paid off at the Liberal meet.
He is also a great student, and he enjoys science and learning how everything works. Kleat is active in FCA, a Christian sports ministry. He believes that it is important to have strong faith.
After high school, Kleat hopes to play ball at the next level. He also wants to study to become a sports physical therapist. He knows that he wants to help other athletes.
Kleat is a talented athlete and a great student. He is also a kind and compassionate person. He has a bright future ahead of him, and he is sure to achieve great things.
Kleat’s story is an inspiration to us all. He has shown us that with hard work, dedication, being a team player and a strong faith, anything is possible.
