Reagan Werner is a sophomore at Hooker High School and a member of the FFA chapter at school. Werner first joined FFA when she was in middle school.
“I had been so excited to be in FFA and it’s taken off from there. My brother who had also been in 4-H since third grade and FFA in his high school years. Having an agricultural background, my dad had been in FFA when he was in high school so that made an impact. Both received their state degrees and encouraged me when I joined 4-H. My sister-in-law helped me get started with the sheep and has been there for me ever since. Agriculture has always been there with me,” said Werner.
Meeting new people in FFA is just one of the reasons Werner loves being in the program.
“The thing I love about FFA is that I have met so many kids not just from Oklahoma but other states as well. It gives me the opportunity to expand my horizons and get involved. FFA teaches life skills such as leadership and responsibility to prepare kids for when we enter the real world,” said Werner.
Werner said judging livestock, giving prepared public speeches and showing goats and sheep is what she enjoys most.
“I also serve as the chapter treasurer. My Supervised Agricultural Experience is a registered Hampshire sheep herd. I am also a member of the National Suffolk Association,” said Werner.
Aside from FFA, Werner is the school mascot, STUCO and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
“Being the mascot provides me a chance to make kids laugh and just mess around with the rowdy crowd,” said Werner.
After high school, Werner plans to attend Redlands Community College and later transfer to Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine.
