Success is something everyone strives for, no matter what part of life they are in. And the same goes for high school student athletes, who want to be the best student and athlete that they can be in order to move to the next level if that is what they choose to do.
Kingfisher’s Taylor Mills says that she has devoted a lot of time and work in order to get to where she is today.
“For me to be successful, it has taken dedication and drive,” she said. “It takes hours and hours of practice and training to be good at something. I am dedicated to constantly improving my abilities not only for myself but for the betterment of my team as a whole. The love for the sport generates a drive within me that cannot come from anything else.”
Mills is a junior at Kingfisher High School, where she is a multi-sport athlete. She plays centerfield on the softball team, a sport she first started playing when she was eleven years old. She is also a member of the school’s track and tennis teams.
Throughout her life, Taylor says that she has had different influences on her life. But through it all, she says that there is one person that has always been there.
“My mom has had the biggest influence on my life,” Taylor said. “She raised my brother and me as a single mom starting when I was eight. No matter how difficult things became financially or in general, she always found a way for her kids to be involved in anything they wanted to be a part of. Not only that, she went through everything with a smile on her face. It is encouraging to know I have someone who will always fight for me, and she has taught me how to go through the challenges of life smiling.”
Outside of athletics, she is a member of the student council.
