Growing up around livestock on a working farm would be an influencing factor on any middle school student wondering if FFA was the right choice for their future. Kremlin-Hillsdale sophomore Pepper Elmore needed very little time to determine she wanted to be involved in FFA.
“I joined Ag in eighth grade but have been involved in agriculture since I was very young. My family runs a cow-calf operation, and my grandfather was an Ag teacher, so they have been very influential,” said Elmore.
Today you can find Elmore showing cattle and serving as an officer for her FFA chapter. Elmore said she loves everything the program has to offer.
“What I like most is the competition and the people I have met. I show cattle and I compete in Ag communications. I also like the character development it builds and the work ethic,” said Elmore.
Aside from FFA, Elmore competes with the basketball and track teams and is a member of National Honor Society.
“I love how we are like family, and we love and support each other on and off the track. A few of my most memorable moments as an athlete would be when I made it to state last year in all four of my individual events making the podium in two of the four. This year my most memorable moment is when they announced that I broke the Okeene track record in the 100-meter dash,” said Elmore.
The sophomore said she plans on attending Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in the medical field.
