Athletes put in a lot of time and hard work in order to be the best that they can be and compete at the highest levels. While the physical work is key, Harrison Stapleton says that there are other ways of preparation that will also help you.
“Hard work and dedication have played a big role in me getting to where I am today,’ he said. “Also, working out when I don’t feel like it. Other things have been important too like keeping God first and my mentality to never let anyone outwork me.”
Stapleton is a sophomore at Pond Creek-Hunter High School where he plays multiple sports. He is a member of the football, basketball, and track and field teams at Pond Creek-Hunter. Throughout his athletic career, Stapleton has invested a lot to become the athlete he is today.
“I have put in a lot of hard work,” he said. “In order to be successful, I have had to be dedicated to my sports and make sacrifices. Another important thing for me is to keep God first in my life. He has brought me a long way. The biggest role model in my life has been Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and Savior and gets all the glory and without Him, I would have nothing.”
Stapleton has enjoyed a lot of fun and memorable moments throughout his career. But out of all of them, he says that his favorite is not a hard choice.
“The highlight moment for my career took place on the track,” he said. “Our track team made it to state last year and I was able to compete alongside Corbin Burnham, Josh Foster, and Cole Svob in the two-mile relay and placed fourth overall.”
As a student at PCHHS, Harrison has learned from a number of great teachers. He says that there is one teacher that has made a big impact on him.
“My favorite teacher is Taddum Riddle,” he said. “Over the years she has taught me that being kind and respectful is the best way to go.”
