Litzy Jimenez, a Ringwood High School senior, doesn’t take for granted her experience growing up and playing sports in a small town.
“It means a lot,” Jimenez said, “especially since our school isn’t as big as others. It’s fun to be active in a lot of activities. It means a lot to the people who love to see you perform, play and be active.”
Jimenez lives by her convictions. She’s a short stop on the softball team, a basketball player and a cheerleader, but she’s far more than just an athlete. She also participates in NHS, BETA, drama, yearbook and PLC, and she is a class student council representative. She’s inspired by her “family, coaches and former teammates” to excel in all of her activities.
“They push me to be the best I can in any situation,” Jimenez said. “It’s taken time and dedication to be successful, [and] also having a good mindset.”
She also credits one teacher, Mrs. Bohlen, for her impact in her life.
“Mrs. Bohlen, she’s always there to give me advice and help me with anything,” Jimenez said.
A highlight moment of her career, she said, was winning districts last year alongside her since-graduated teammates. It won’t be too long before the same can be said of her by one of her younger teammates as she graduates this spring. One of those teammates, her sister, has made a significant impact in her life.
“I enjoy working the most with either my younger sister,” Jimenez said, “or Kyra Reyes, because they’re both hard-working and we have fun while we practice. . . I think we are all equally appreciated. We all have a different roll on our team.”
Her favorite team to beat is rival Timberlake.
“I would say Timberlake, just because my old coaches [are] there,” Jimenez said.
