OFFENSE
“Numerous returning starters on both sides of the ball gives us experience headed into 2022. We will rely on our offensive line to move the football and look to improve the run game. Defensively, we will build on an already proven squad,” said head coach Joey Scott. The Red Devils will use a shotgun wing-T offense to establish the run game and open up the pass game. All-District quarterback Ben Schreiner (6-3, 180, Sr.) leads the offense. One of his notable targets will be Derek Keenan (5-11, 170, Sr.) who can run and receive the ball as well as sling it if needed. Last season Keenan had 1,100 allpurpose yards, making him a big contributor to the offense. The O-line will be solidified by Joe Hernandez (6-2, 220, Sr.) and Alex Breeden (6-5, 260, Sr.).
DEFENSE
Hernandez will also be a force on the defensive line. In 2021 he was named preseason All-State and first team All- District. He had 99 tackles, 15 quarterback pressures, and eight sacks last year. Also, on the D-line as well as playing linebacker is Johnny Martinez (5-11, 170, Sr.), who had 55 tackles last year. Keenan, another All- District defensive player in the backfield, will add to his 60 tackles and 10 interceptions from last year. Raul Reza (5- 11, 190, Sr.) will be another contributor at linebacker, adding to his 50 tackles from last year. Sophomore Crosby Cartwright will also be one to watch on both sides of the ball.
