Vici’s Cade Trotter – athlete spotlight presented by town of vici nursing home

By Derrick Smith

Athletes make a lot of memories throughout their careers. It could be a team accomplishment or goal met or it could be a personal milestone that was reached. Cade Trotter who has played baseball since he was five years old, says that there was one game when his bat was hot that is the favorite moment of his career so far.

“There are a few to choose from,” he said. “But I would say that the highlight of my career so far would have to be when I hit back-to-back home runs in districts last fall. It was a really great feeling and knowing that it was helping my team made it feel even better.”

Trotter is a sophomore at Vici High School. He plays pitcher, shortstop, and third base for the Indians baseball team. He says that there have been a number of people that have had an impact on his life, but he says that there is one person that has been in his life since day one that has helped shape him into the person he is.

“The biggest role model in my life is my dad,” Trotter said. “He basically made me who I am today and taught me everything that I know. I have no doubt that I would not be who I am now without him.”

While his dad has played a huge role in his life, Cade has had to invest a lot personally in order to become the athlete that he is today.

“It has taken a lot of work for me to get where I am,” he said. “Dedication is also very important. There are going to be days when you don’t feel like working or you want to go do something with your friends or family, but you know you need to put in the time and the work to become the best athlete that you can be.”

Throughout his education Cade has had the opportunity to learn from a variety of different teachers and instructors. But he says that there is one teacher that he would call his favorite.

“Trisha Salisbury has been my biology teacher and she has taught me all the cool stuff about the subject and she made learning about it fun”
