Waukomis Chiefs Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Integris Medford Family Clinic

BOYS

Coach: Allen Hicks

21-22 Record: 14-10

The Chiefs made it to the regional tournament last season before seeing their season end. After losing a decent number of players to graduation, head coach Allen Hicks knows that his team will need guys to step up and fill those roles. “We graduated seven seniors a year ago,” he stated. “So we will see some new faces on the floor and returning players with different roles from a season ago. We have several returning players with game time experience and even though graduation hit us our expectations will not change.”

Blake Landwehr is a tremendous athlete at both ends of the court. He can lock you down on defense and attack the bucket easily on the offensive end. He will be leader on the team and will play a vital role in the team’s success. An energetic player, Dallas Ives brings an intensity to the defensive side of the ball that the team will need this year. He distributes the ball well and finds the open man offensively. After putting in a lot of work in the offseason, Hunter Carter is ready to make a bigger impact during his sophomore season. He brings a rebounding presence and presents matchup problems for opposing teams with his inside-outside game offensively. The team’s assistant coach will be Brian Helberg.
