Woodward High School’s Ethan Matt has been part of the Ag life for as long as he can remember. 

“I began my livestock showing career at the age of nine when I was able to join my county 4-H program,” said Matt. “My junior year of high school my schedule allowed me to join FFA. I quickly became active in the Ag mechanics projects and competed in many different contests across the state as well as completed a welding project for our district livestock show.” 

It was his mother, who is the Extension Educator at school, that encouraged Matt to join the clubs. Throughout his entire life, attending events was part of life. 

Matt started showing boer doe goats that his aunt and uncle raised and now he shows boer Wether goats. 

“The thing I enjoy most about both the 4-H and the FFA programs is the friendships you make all across the state. Not a game goes by that I don’t step onto the field and know a player from the opposing team because of the opportunities presented to me through these organizations,” said Matt. 

As a student-athlete at Woodward High School, Matt is a football player for the Boomers and loves setting a good example for the younger kids. 

“I hope I serve as a role model to younger children, and they see the life skills that I have developed because of the experiences I have gained, and they see how valuable joining both of these organizations. I would tell them to go for it and never look back,” said Matt. “As I enter my senior year of high school and look towards my future, I plan to be an animal chiropractor where I can continue to be around the people and the organizations that have made me who I am today.”
