Balko-Forgan’s Adam Creason – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Farm Credit Western Oklahoma

Balko High School senior Adam Creason is coming off of a spectacular final season of football, bringing with him a silver ball from the state championship game.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey we’ve gone on,” Creason said. “Our freshman year we didn’t win a single game, and now we just finished up playing in a state championship. It wasn’t the result we wanted, but we had a great run. We created a true brotherhoood and made memories that will last a lifetime.”

Now that football has come and gone, Creason is turning his attention to basketball season, but that’s not all. He’s also gearing up for the upcoming show season in FFA.

“I feel as though being involved in the activities the FFA has to offer, like raising cattle, has given me countless opportunities to better myself as a whole,” he said. “Not only in my life now, but later on down the road. FFA, along with sports, has taught me perseverance, a strong work ethic, and how to better manage my time.”

Creason has a long line of awards with FFA, but he listed his top honors.

“With my show steers I have won numerous Grand Champions, which include local, county, district, and statewide shows,” he said. “I was fortunate enough to be Reserve Division at the American Royal in Kansas City my junior year. I’m hoping to do well with the rest of this show season, with a nice set of calves that I have on feed.”

“When I get up in the morning, I get the steers fed, then I wash them and work hair on them,” Creason continued, explaining his responsibilities. “Then I put them in the barn, tie them down, and then put the fans on. Then I go to school.”

His free time mostly involves work around the farm.

“If you are from my part of the country, you’ll understand what I’m saying when I say ranch,” he said. “I like breaking and riding colts, riding pens and pastures full of yearling cattle. Roping and doctoring calves. Helping out with family, friends, and neighbors with their yearly brandings.”

After high school, Creason said he wants to go to OSU and major in animal science.
