Telisa looks to many people as role models. Telisa stated, “My role models include my mom and dad, my aunt and uncle, and my older friend Kamryn. My mom and dad are role models because they show me that no matter what there is always a way out, and change is possible as long as you want it. My aunt and uncle are role models because they taught me right from wrong, they taught me good from bad, and will always be there for me when I need firm life advice, support, or a comfort place, Kamryn is a role model to me because she teaches me that no matter what goes on in life that life itself does not end.”
As to what it has taken Telisa to be successful in sports, Telisa elaborated, “It takes a strong mentality, good patience, and hard work put in every day with 100% passion and effort.”
One particular moment of Telisa’s high school sporting career stands out. Telisa stated, “The highlight of my career was going to compete for the first time ever, and going through practice. We practiced in the building until our team found ourselves waiting for our turn to perform. At that particular moment, all you could think about was all of the hours spent practicing the routines, over and over, and the hard work our coaches put in to get us there.”
After graduating from high school, Telisa is considering serving our country. Telisa explained, “While I do not yet have official plans set yet, no matter what my future plans are, I am pretty sure I will end up serving in The National Guard.”
