Getting to know Woodward first-year football head coach Ken Gordon – Presented by Randy’s Pharmacy

VYPE: What led to your decision to take the Woodward position as football head coach?

Ken: It was a family decision…the opportunity to build my own program. Coaching my kids was something I have been waiting for the right opportunity.

VYPE: Where have you coached previously?

Ken: Northwest Missouri State University , Minnesota State , Emporia State , University of Nebraska Kearney and Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

VYPE: What are you looking forward to the most in year one as a coach and teacher?

Ken: Helping our student athletes achieve goals that they thought weren’t possible.

VYPE: Who has inspired you the most?

Ken: My family (wife, kids – Dominik Gordon, Addisyn Gordon and McKinley Gordon).

VYPE: What is your message to athletes at Woodward under your guidance and leadership?

Ken: I will give you my all everyday.

VYPE: What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing most during your free time?

Ken: Spending time and relaxing with my family, working out and fishing with my son.

VYPE: Where is your favorite place to eat dinner (eating out)? What’s your choice from the menu?

Ken: Texas Roadhouse – biscuits, catfish and green beans.

VYPE: What do you think is the most essential life skill?

Ken: Don’t allow your advantages to become your disadvantages.

VYPE: What is your proudest accomplishment?

Ken: Winning three national championships/graduating with my masters degree.

VYPE: Which famous historical person would you want to spend the day with?

Ken: Brent Venables (Love his passion for the game of football and he is a really good ball coach).
