Hannah Eilers – A leader at Mooreland High School Presented by Slater Mechanical

By Jay Hoberecht

Hannah Eilers is the middle child of five siblings.  She has a heart for service.  She is a senior at Mooreland High School and is in the National Honor Society, M&M Club and FCA.  She also plays softball and throws both the shot and discus in track for the Bearcats.  Plus, she has two summer jobs.

She attends the First Assembly of God Church in Woodward and is involved as a student leader of the youth group and is part of the Worship Team.

Hannah’s favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is Suzie Kreckenberg.  She is impressed with the way Ms.Kreckenberg connects with her students.  Hannah uses that experience helping children read in elementary school (M&M Club).

Hannah plays softball for the Lady Bearcats.  She plays mostly at first and also some outfield.  Her coach, Frank Howard, calls her a “hardworking, great kid that competes” every day.  She leads by example, and is a great kid to be around.

I asked her about the highlights of her first three years of high school.  She thought for several moments and replied with two.  She likes helping the younger girls in sports by helping them to understand the commitment it takes to play.  She also mentioned her sophomore year when she qualified for State throwing the discus.

I ask Hannah what advice she might give a ninth grader entering high school.  She immediately replied, “Focus on yourself; don’t worry about what others think about you.  Learn!  Don’t be afraid to take a chance and go for it!”

Hannah wants to attend either Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva or Victory Family Leadership College in Norman.  Hannah feels led to get a pastoral degree and work in missions.

Hannah loves FCA!  Her brother got her involved with FCA.  She attends church summer camp and had a special experience at a camp in Arkansas four years ago leading her to rededicate her life to Christ.  She sometimes speaks at FCA meetings.  Her FCA sponsor, Marsha Bowers, calls her a “bright light.” Hannah’s leadership in FCA has been so intentional.  Her lessons and her ability to lead by example help others.

Hannah Eilers is a young woman that is looking forward to the next chapter in her life as she seeks God’s will!
