Hooker Bulldogs 2023 Boys Basketball Preview Presented by First National Bank of Hooker

HOOKER BULLDOGS

BOYS

Coach: Todd Kerr

22-23 Record: 20-7

After winning 20 games in 2022, coach Todd Kerr and the Hooker Bulldogs are ready to take the court and test themselves against another tough schedule. “We have a solid core group coming back. We should be really deep. Hopefully, with the right preparation and commitment, we will have an opportunity to advance deep into the playoffs again,” said Kerr.

Two players are at the top of the scoring chart for the Bulldogs. Kleat Martens (5-9, Jr.) averaged 11.8 points at guard while Keilan Robinson (6-2, So.) averaged 11.6 with 6.1 rebounds at guard as a freshman. Forward Nate Hidalgo (6-7, Jr.) will be a factor this season after averaging 9.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Braxton Burge (6-1, Sr.) and Omar Gomez (5-10, Sr.) are two upperclassmen looking to help lead this team. Burge averaged 3.7 points and Gomez was good for 4.9 points per contest. Also look for Elijah Gribble (5-10, G, Sr.), Slade Stalder (6-5, G/F, Jr.), Peyton Parker (6-1, F, Jr.), and Trace Duncan (6-0, G, Jr.). Other players adding to the depth of the roster include John Davis (5-10, G, Jr.), Cale Metcalf (6-3, F, Jr.), and Justin Palacios (G, Fr.). Coach Kerr is in his seventh year at Hooker with assistant coaches Jace Kerr and Aaron Ruiz.
