HOOKER BULLDOGS
Coach: TREVOR POWERS
9-4
OFFENSE
The Hooker Bulldogs are looking to “ride the momentum of a 2A State
Championship in Track into the 2023 season.” Head Coach Trevor Powers is confident about this upcoming season for the Bulldogs. “We return a large portion of our team from our quarterfinal run a year ago. We look to be a more experienced and physical team as our large sophomore class matures over the next two years,” he shares. Quarterback Kleat Martens (5-9, 170, Jr.) is recognized by Coach Powers as the “heart and soul of the team.” Martens put up 1,500 rushing yards, 1,500 passing yards, and 46 touchdowns last season. At wide receiver this season are freshman Tatum Trimble (5-9, 160) and senior Braxton Burge (6-1, 175) who has put up over a thousand yards and 15 touchdowns the last two seasons. Also working the offense will be center Cale Metcalf (6-2, 220, Jr.), right tackle Rhett Nunley (6-4, 320, Jr.), and right guard Jonathan Cano (6-0, 230, Jr.), who are all expected to be big time playmakers in the upcoming season.
DEFENSE
With 8 defensive starters returning, the Bulldogs are looking to have a strong defense this upcoming season. The defensive player to watch is defensive back Keilan Robinson (6-2, 180, So.) who is highlighted by Coach Powers as “arguably the best athlete in Class A.” Robinson led the state with 11 interceptions as a freshman. Also at defensive back are Omar Gomez (5-9, 165, Sr.) who had four interceptions last season, John Davis (5-9, 165, Jr.), and Trace Duncan (6-0, 175, Jr,). Linebacker Aydan Woolridge (5-9, 180, So.) and defensive end Peyton Parker (6-1, 240, Jr.) will also be key players in the defensive success of the team.
