BOYS
Coach: Todd Kerr
21-22 Record: 21-7
The Hooker Bulldogs finished last season with an impressive 21-7 record. Coming into the new season sixth year head coach Todd Kerr has a younger team than previous years with only one senior on the roster, but there is depth and talent across the board for the Bulldogs who are looking to make an impact. Kleat Martens (5-9, So.) is the top returning scorer after averaging 7.7 points and 3.0 rebounds as a freshman. The sophomore guard is one of many underclassmen with a high ceiling that will look to lead Hooker on both ends of the floor. Omar Gomez (5-10, Jr.) will accompany Martens in the backcourt and averaged 7.0 points and 2.0 rebounds a year ago. Look for these two playmakers to set up the offense and get their teammates involved or create their own scoring opportunities.
Nate Hidalgo (6-6, So.) is a long forward that can play down low or stretch the floor. He knows how to position his body and rebounds well and last year averaged 2.6 points and 4.0 rebounds a game. Look for him to have a bigger impact after his freshman season. Jaxson Parker (6-2, Sr.) is the lone senior on the roster and will bring a veteran presence to the court and locker room. He has good size and is very adept at making things happen on both ends of the floor. Braxton Burge (6-1, Jr.) and Elijah Gribble (5-10, Jr.) provide more experience in the backcourt, and each are expected to have bigger roles this year. Although Hooker is a very young team, they have a high ceiling and will look to gain experience, build momentum and chemistry throughout the winter. Other players to look for include: Trace Duncan (5-11, So.), Slade Slater (6-3, So.), Cale Metcalf (6-3, So.), Peyton Parker (6-2, So.), and John Davis (5-10, So.)
