Laverne’s Royce Henricks – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Cross country runner Royce Henricks is a junior at Laverne High School where he’s also a member of the FFA chapter. Henricks first joined FFA when he was in junior high.

“I have been involved in the FFA since eighth grade, but I have been involved in agriculture my whole life. My mom is the one who really encouraged me to get involved in the FFA,” said Henricks.

As a member of the chapter, Henricks is involved in several activities including shooting sports, welding, and livestock judging. Despite not showing animals of his own, Henricks has helped his sisters with their show pigs.

“What I enjoyed most about FFA is all the opportunities it gives you and going on trips,” said Henricks.

Henricks encourages other students to consider joining FFA.

“I would strongly encourage any student to join the FFA. It gives you so many different opportunities and teaches you things you can use in your everyday life,” said Henricks.

As a member of the cross country and track team, Henricks said he’s loved being part of the team and representing his school in competition.

“What I love most about being in the cross country program is all the memories that are made while doing something I love. I love that our team is very encouraging towards one another, and we always push each other to our limits,” said Henricks.

Future plans for Henricks includes college to pursue a degree in Ag business, with encouragement from a very important person in his life.

“A person who has been a big influence in my life is my mom. She is always encouraging me to do my best in everything I do. That has really helped me in FFA and cross country,” said Henricks.
