MOORELAND LADY CATS
GIRLS
Coach: Greg Uribe
22-23 Record: 6-17
It’s an exciting time at Mooreland as the Lady Bearcats and head coach Greg Uribe are looking to right the ship as they head into the new season. Autumn VanZee (Sr.) is one of the leaders returning this season.
VanZee averaged 7.4 points per game and is the team’s best shooter. “VanZee is the team leader both on and off the court. The team’s new offense will give her more opportunities to score, I look for her to have an excellent year,” said Uribe. Rylee Wyrick (Sr.) and Hannah Eilers (Sr.) add to the senior leadership giving coach Johnson players to help the younger teammates mature and prepare for big games. “
Juniors Kenslee Blackard, Hailee Scarborough, and Hannah Howard earned significant playing time as sophomores; their continued development will have a large impact on the team’s overall performance,” said Uribe. Other juniors providing good depth and play off the bench include Peyton Butts, Mady Marshall, Kaydence Anderson, and Skyelin Chancey. “Kaydence Anderson and Mady Marshall will have a chance to earn minutes this season as well,” said Uribe. An early injury to one of the outstanding sophomores is big, but coach Uribe is looking to the underclassmen to step up and fill in.
“Despite the loss of promising sophomore Elizabeth Eilers to a knee injury, there is another up-and-coming underclassman, freshman, Olivia Clem who has a chance to make an immediate impact for the Lady Cats,” said Uribe. Other player to watch include Raelee Cunningham (So.), Emma Case (So.), and Karla Hernandez (Fr.).
