Role models can play a big role in the lives of most people. Whether it is a celebrity or famous athlete or even someone that is a little closer to home, the impact that they can make can be immeasurable. Hannah Howard has a few people that have helped shape her into the person that she is today.
“I would have to say my older sister and parents are my biggest role models,” she said. “My sister is the best leader I know. Iit might not be with words but her actions speak loudly. Also, my parents will do anything for me and push me to be the best I can be. In the classroom, I would say Mr. Urbie has influenced me because he is not only an amazing math teacher but he is also my basketball coach who has helped me love playing again.”
Hannah is a junior at Mooreland High School. She is a member of the school’s basketball, fastpitch softball, slowpitch softball, and track teams. Outside of sports, she is also involved in Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society, she is an honor student, serves as a class officer, is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, and a member of the Oklahoma State Honor Society. She is also involved in the Youth Group at First Baptist Church.
When she and her teammates compete against other schools, Howard has one team that she enjoys beating the most.
“I would say Shattuck is the team that I like beating the most,” she said. “I feel like there has always been a very competitive rivalry between Mooreland and Shattuck.”
Hannah is always working to get better and her teammates play a role in her improvement.
“One teammate that I like to work against in practice is definitely Olivia Clem,” she said. “Even though we are good friends, we are both very competitive and she pushes me to be better. I think that Mady Marshall is an underrated player on our team because she might not always get playing time but when she does she can really help us.”
