Mooreland High School freshman Xander Nielsen is a member of the varsity cross country team and a member of the FFA chapter at school.
FFA has been a big part of the high school experience for Nielsen, and he’s enjoyed every minute of it.
“I first got involved in FFA at the beginning of the last school year,” said Nielsen.
Following in the footsteps of a family member, Nielsen said the FFA lifestyle is something his family embraces.
“My dad was in FFA, and I live on a farm and work cattle so it was in my path,” said Nielsen.
Despite not showing animals in FFA, Nielsen said he gets plenty of work with livestock thanks to living on a working farm. As an FFA member, Nielsen is part of the shooting team at Mooreland.
“I’m involved in shooting sports, opening ceremonies and livestock judging. FFA is a good time with friends and members you will have many memories and have a lot of choices in what you want to do,” said Nielsen.
The freshman said his father is a big reason he loves the outdoors and FFA.
“My dad he has taught me to do many things such as hunting, fishing, and trapping. As well as many life skills,” said Nielsen.
As a member of the cross-country team and track team, Nielsen said he enjoys the fellowship and experiences while competing with the team. Nielsen plans to attend college after his four years at Mooreland come to an end.
