GIRLS

Coach: Brady Hamar

22-23 Record: 27-1

The Lady Wildcats are the reigning Class A state champions, and they are ready to defend that title this season. After finishing last season with just one loss and a championship trophy, head coach Brady Hamar says his squad is ready to pick up where they left off at the end of last season. “We are looking forward to a great season,” Hamar said. “We had no seniors on the team last season, so we return everyone from our State Championship squad.” The team will be led on the court by three outstanding seniors with a lot of postseason experience and hardware. Braci Nyberg (5-7, Sr.), Aryahna Whetstone (5-11, Sr.), and Kenly Gore (5-7, Sr.) are four-year starters and they have been very successful.

They were state semi-finalists as freshmen and won state championships as sophomores and juniors. The trio combined for an average of 49 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists per game last season. Gore has been the team’s point guard for four years and Hamar says that she does a lot to help her teammates be successful. “Kenly is one of those players that makes everyone else better,” the coach said. “She has the ability to score at any time, but most of the time creates shots for everyone else. Just a very unselfish player, that makes our team go. When needed to score though she always steps up.” Joining this trio and looking get the Lady Wildcats another championship will be Teagan Hamar (5-7, Jr.), Kierstin Briggs (5-11, Jr.), Isabella Hammons (5-11, Sr.), Lyndlea Nichols (6-0, So.), Rainie Nelson (5-5, Jr.), and Sage Norton (5-7, Fr.).
