Kenly and Brock Gore are siblings that attend Seling High School. Along with the usual things that brothers and sisters share like family and religious beliefs, the two have another thing in common that most siblings do not. They share a birthday. The Gore’s are twins and they both agree that it is something that they are thankful for.
“I appreciate having a twin because you always know that someone is by your side all the time,” Kenly said. “No matter what the situation could be, I can always go to him for help or advice. I also am very close with him so that plays a factor in a lot of things.”
Brock echoes his sister’s thoughts by adding, “The thing I appreciate the most about Kenly is that there is always someone to hangout with or talk to, you’re never alone there is always someone around.”
Kenly and Brock are both seniors that are very involved around the Seiling High School Campus. Kenly plays fastpitch and slow pitch softball, basketball, and track. She is also an officer for the student council. Brock is a member of the football, baseball, basketball, and track teams. Outside of sports, he is a member of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, student council, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
They both work hard at their respective sports so that they can be at their best whenever they compete. Kenly says that along with the work, there are other things that play into success.
“Motivation is something that helps keep me focused,” she said. “My motivation comes from living in a small community that supports every program not only through playoffs but from the very beginning. Also having such great teammates that push me everyday in practice to achieve our goal at the end of each season.”
Along with being solid athletes, both Kenly and Brock strive to be good people too. Brock says that he has some great people in his life but has one that has had the biggest impact on him.
“My biggest role model is my grandpa,” he said. “He has always been there for me and has basically been like a second dad to me. He has pushed me to become successful in school and in everything I do.”
In her life, Kenly also has family members that she looks up to as role models.
“My biggest influences would be my sisters,” she said. “I got to be a part of their basketball team when they won the four-peat of girls basketball state championships and I have always told myself that I want to be like them when I grow up. Not only have they taught me dedication and hard work, they have also taught me many life long lessons and memories that I will cherish forever.”
