When Rylee Rogers of Seiling High School was in the eighth grade, she decided to join the local FFA chapter. It was an easy decision knowing her family was in the agriculture business.
“I grew up in a family who was big in agriculture so that was a starting point as well as all the great things I had heard and my encouraging Ag teachers,” said Rogers. “Honestly I think my biggest influencer in Agriculture has been my Ag teacher Mr. Bensch. He has always pushed me to be my best and got me involved in every activity possible.”
Rogers said she enjoys many things about being in FFA. From the trips to the people, FFA has a lot to offer a student who is willing to be an active member in the program.
“What I enjoy most about FFA is the people I’ve met, the opportunities I’ve gained from being in the Seiling FFA and the events are definitely a favorite,” said Rogers. “Being in FFA, I’ve got to learn and explore many different things. I love public speaking and I do CDE (Career and Leadership Development Events) contests plus so much more.”
Last year was her first year to show pigs, and it’s something she wants to continue this year as a sophomore.
FFA is not the only thing Rogers is involved in at Seiling High School. She is also a member of the varsity cheer squad.
“What I love most about my team is how encouraging we are to one another and how they are always willing to lend a hand to someone in need,” said Rogers. “I love the bonds we build as a team and the memories we get to make.”
Rogers said FFA has taught her a lot, and anyone interested in being part of a great organization should look into it.
“For anyone who wants to join their schools FFA, I would say do it. Although it can be a little nerve racking at first, it’s a great high school experience and you’ll cherish the memories forever,” said Rogers. “FFA will definitely be one of the best high school experiences for me.”
