Sharon-Mutual’s Lexie Robinson – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

After years of being involved in the 4-H Club, Lexie Robinson of Sharon-Mutual High School decided she was ready to join the FFA chapter in the eighth grade.

“I most enjoy the feeling of belonging to one big family. No matter where you go, you can always find someone to connect with over your mutual interests,” said Robinson.

Now a junior, Robinson is involved in many of the activities the FFA has to offer it’s students.  “I am currently our chapter Vice President, a member of the food science team, as well as a member of the livestock judging team. I have also competed in opening ceremonies and the greenhand quiz,” said Robinson. “I have shown goats in the past and plan on returning to showing this year.”

Robinson is also a member of the varsity cheer squad at Sharon-Mutual. “My favorite part of being on the cheer squad is supporting our teams and helping to get the crowd to show their Trojan pride,” said Robinson. “The thing I love most about my teammates is they never fail to help guide me out of my comfort zone and support me until the end.”

If cheering and FFA were not enough on her plate, Robinson also splits time between the Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, the Academic Team and serves as president of her junior class. Robinson said being in FFA is somewhat of a family tradition. “Being in FFA and showing livestock has been a family tradition for generations. Aside from my family, my Ag teachers and friends have always supported my agricultural endeavors,” said Robinson. “My mother is my greatest influence, no matter what I am doing she is always my biggest cheerleader and never fails to push me to succeed.”

The junior offers this advice to anyone looking to join FFA.  “My advice is to jump in head-first and try anything you can. Even if you fail you will learn valuable lessons, and make great friends along the way,” said Robinson.
