WOODWARD LADY BOOMERS
GIRLS
Coach: Lacy Moore
22-23 Record: 15-13
Woodward will have to replace a large bulk of its scoring in 2023-24, but head coach Lily Moore is confident with what she has available. “We have a strong core coming back this year. Although we lost a huge part of scoring, I feel confident with the girls coming back and the young players stepping into big roles,” Moore said. Junior Bryleigh Douglas-Fischer will lead the way as a VYPE Top 100 nominee.
“Bryleigh will be a huge contributor this season. She stepped up in a big way for us last year, leading us in rebounds and helping carry the scoring load,” Moore said. Sophomore Lexi Mendell is coming off a productive freshman season. “Lexi came in and gave good minutes as a freshman. A long sophomore with the ability to shoot outside and attack the lane,” Moore said. “I am excited to see her step into more consistent minutes this year.” Riley Moore offers help on the defensive end and with rebounding. “Riley has been a major part of our defense and rebounding force. She battles hard under the basket and directs the defense,” Moore said. “I look forward to her stepping into the leadership role this year.” Jocelyn Treece, who suffered an ACL injury as a sophomore, will give the Boomers a shooting threat from the outside. “Jocelyn has worked hard to get herself back to a competitive three-sport athlete. I look forward to Jocelyn stepping up and being our leading 3-point threat,” Moore said. Lily Luckett is also expected to play a role for the Boomers.
