When someone decides to enter the teaching profession, usually it is not just because they want to try it out. In most cases, they have a desire to help students and have an impact on their lives. Angela Clem’s decision to be a teacher was for that very reason and she says that her instructors also played a big role in that decision.
“I became a teacher because I felt like I could inspire generations to become good humans,” she said. “Also, I also enjoy mathematics. My college professors made the biggest impacts on the educator I aspire to become. I would not be the educator I am without the support of my colleagues and administration at Woodward High School.”
Clem teaches freshman and sophomore Geometry at Woodward High School, where she is in her sixth year of teaching.
While she enjoys the impact she is able to make on her students’ lives, Angela enjoys other parts of her profession as well.
“I enjoy preparing and delivering the content to the students,” she stated. “I like watching students when they achieve mastery.”
Throughout her teaching career, there has been a lot of advice that has been passed on to Clem. While she appreciates them, she has one that she has kept in mind the most.
“Be patient and try to meet each student where they are in their learning is something I try to remember every single day.”
Angela has been married to her husband Bill for 28 years. They have two sons that she is extremely proud of. And when she is not in the classroom teaching or preparing lessons, Clem enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
“Brennon is in his senior year at Oklahoma State University,” she said. “He graduates in May with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Blayze is a freshman at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and he is pursuing a degree in Organizational Leadership to become a youth pastor.”
