Ava Long, a University of Central Oklahoma freshman soccer player, simpy put it, “college is no joke.”
“It’s a job,” said Long, who graduated from Woodward High School in 2023, “and you’re also finding yourself for the first time on your own. You have to keep your head down and work because one day it’ll all pay off and the Lord will always provide.”
Long’s connection to her faith has come to the forefront of her daily routine while adjusting to a college lifestyle.
“God has opened my eyes this semester. I never knew what it was like to follow Christ until now,” Long said. “I’ve been surrounded with such a great community on- and off-campus. STUMO has changed my life forever and has helped me grow my walk with God.”
While growing up in Woodward, Long learned the broader importance of family. Her mother teaches art at WHS and had Long in class two years and her father coached her practically her entire life.
“Family is so important. They will be your support system for the rest of your life, and to never take advantage of it,” Long said. “My family and the past coaches from club got me to where I am today.”
