Every teacher can use a different method to teach their lessons in the classroom. While some may follow the textbook closely, others might let their class be more hands-on. Neither way is wrong and it can depend on the teacher and the subject matter being taught. Bryce Pingry is an educator and he enjoys making learning entertaining for the students.

“Some of the best advice I have ever received was to just have fun,” he said. “My classroom can sometimes be loud but that’s only because I integrate fun into learning. This goes miles as far as learning goes.”

Pingry teaches sixth grade Geography at Woodward Middle School, where he has taught for eight years. Before coming to Woodward, he taught at Yukon Public Schools for four years.

The decision to become a teacher was one that came from some of his teachers when he was a student.

“Some of my biggest teaching influences were my own teachers,” he stated. “Mrs. Stine, Mrs. Zadorozny, Mrs. Holcomb, and Mrs. Brittan all had a passion for their subject and that really inspired me to become a teacher. I have a passion for history and I knew that I wanted to pass that passion on to my students.”

While there are days that can be tough, Pingry tries to remember the reason that he first entered this profession. For the students and to share his passion for the subject of History.

“Being able to teach something that I love makes everyday fun,” he said. “If you enjoy the subject then it stays new and fun and the kids can see that.”

Outside of teaching, Bryce enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessie, and their two kids, Owen and Lily. He also likes to travel and he is obsessed with all things Star Wars.
