Woodward’s Bryleigh Douglas-Fischer – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Excel Realty Group

Throughout the life of a high school student, there are people that make an impact and help shape them into who they will become. Bryleigh Douglas-Fischer says that she has an outstanding group of people that are very influential in her life.

“My family is the biggest motivation that I have,” she said. “They are always cheering me on and supporting me. My mom is my biggest role model, because she believes that I can do anything if I put my mind to it.”

Bryleigh is a junior at Woodward High School, where she is a multi-sport athlete, competing in softball, basketball, and soccer. Away from sports, she is involved in the Sub Debs, the National Honor Society, the Pep Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The success that Douglas-Ficher has experienced throughout her career is not something that just happened. It is because of the investment that she and her teammates have made.

“It takes a lot of hard work in order to be successful,” she stated. “Even when you do not feel like it. On our team, we believe that every member of our team has an important role to play and that, no matter what that role is, in order for us to be successful, we all have to play our roles to the best of our ability.”

While she appreciates all of her teammates and their abilities and contributions to the team, Bryleigh says that there is one teammate that she enjoys working against the most in practices.

“Kaleigh Mills is probably the one,” she said. “She is one of the most hardworking freshmen I have met. We both are very hard workers so going against her is making me the best I can be.”

During her time of playing sports, Bryleigh has made some great memories with her teammates. She says that there are a few that stand out as her favorite.

“The highlight moment of my career would have to be during my freshman year when we played Kingfisher in regionals and we won by one point. It is a memory I will never forget. Also, I enjoy beating Elk City the most in basketball. They are always good competition and always fun to play.”

Representing her school when she competes is not something that Douglas-Fischer takes lightly. She strives to follow in the footsteps of those that have gone before her.

“For me, representing Woodward means to step up and be a leader,” she said. “Years before me, there were girls that were leaders and led their team to state championships. I wanna be that player so that’s what it means to me.
