Hunter Harrison is a senior at Woodward High School and he has made sure he is a leader at his school. Harrison played football and soccer for the Boomers. He is very active in school and community activities and surrounds himself with positive, successful people. He is involved in FCA at his school.
Hunter has played football for Woodward since his freshman year when he started four games. He has played defensive end, middle linebacker and left tackle. He suffered injuries in his freshman and junior seasons. He was elected team captain this past season and played in the Prep 101 Bowl in Woodward. He plays left back in soccer. His football coach, Rick Luetjen, talked about Hunter being one of those kids that don’t come along very often. He talked about him being a “great kid, his great character and that his light shines all the time”.
Harrison is Pep Club President, Student Class President and active in Senior Week activities. He got FCA started at Woodward High School with the help of Coach Luetjen. They meet every Friday morning and on the second Wednesday of the month. Hunter plans on attending FCA Camp at Lake Texoma this summer. He also holds a bible study for 10-15 kids each week on Tuesdays.
I asked Hunter what advice he might have for a junior high person. He quickly replied, “Surround yourself with positive people that are successful or want to be successful.” He went on to add that to be Christian today, puts some pressure on you. FCA allows you to share your faith.
Harrison wants to become a fireman in Woodward. It has been on his mind since childhood. There are four positions available in Woodward and Hunter will be testing soon for one of those jobs. His soccer coach, JP Shirkey, is a fireman and has had a big impact on his life.
Hunter Harrison is an impressive young man that has a plan for his life that includes helping people, being active in his community and walking in his faith.
