At some point in your life you’re going to find that one person in which you want to shape your life around. It could be someone that is part of their everyday life, or it could be someone they watch on TV or their phone such as a professional athlete. Nevertheless, the impact that this one person can make in a life can be immeasurable.
Jackson Ramirez is a junior baseball player at Woodward and his role model is someone close to him.
“Grandpa Leon is my role model,” Ramirez said. “He showed me what it takes to have a good work ethic, it’s important to have the qualities of a hard worker.”
Jackson’s teammates that he is surrounded by have become a close-knit group, he says they work hard together and bond well with each other. Ramirez quoted, “My teammates mean everything to me, they are some of the best people you will ever meet.”
Woodward baseball means the world to Jackson. Jackson began his baseball career when he was eight years old. He enjoys listening to Enter Sandman by Metallica before each game to get him going.
“My favorite aspect of baseball is that it’s the only sport that keeps your errors on the scoreboard for everyone to see,” Ramirez said. In the game of baseball this should bring motivation to strive to be perfect where know one can see your flaws.
When asked if you had $1000 and 15 minutes to spend it where you are going and what are you buying? “I’m headed to Dicks Sporting Goods and loading up on baseballs for my hitting cage,” he said.
Jackson is looking forward to baseball season and wants to have a big impact with his team and a bigger impact on the people that surround him.
