Throughout an athlete’s career, they create many great memories that will last a lifetime. Some are personal achievements while others are more of a team accomplishment. For Jocelyn Treece, her favorite memory is a mix of both.
“The highlight moment of my career was when I caught the game-ending catch in the softball Battle at the Beach championship game,” she recalled. “It was a great feeling to be able to help my team get the big win.”
Treece is a senior at Woodward High School, where she plays fastpitch and slowpitch softball, along with basketball. She is also a member of the Pep Club and the National Honor Society. She loves being involved in her school activities and helping out in her community
It takes a lot to be a successful person and being a multi-sport athlete is no different. Jocelyn says that along with work, it also takes having a great support system.
“In order for me to be successful, it has taken a lot of hard work and effort from everyone, not just one person,” she said. “My biggest motivators in my life are my parents. They are the main reason why I am where I am at in my life today. My mom is a big role model for me because she is a very headstrong person and knows if she works for what she wants then she will more than likely accomplish it someday.”
Treece says that she is proud to wear her school colors whenever she competes. But she also enjoys competing alongside her teammates.
“I love representing Woodward throughout all my sports,” she stated. “It gives me another thing to play for, on top of my teammates, coaches, and family. I have some outstanding teammates that I play with. Probably the teammate I like working against would probably be Keeli Cope. She always plays tough defense on me during practice so it helps me improve my ball handling skills for when it’s game time. I don’t feel like any of us are under appreciated. Our coaches care and treat all of the same. Each of us has a role on the team no matter what that role may be in the end.”
When she and her teammates step out on the field or court to play, they are ready to compete against whoever the opponent is. But Treece has a couple of teams that she enjoys beating the most.
“The team I like beating the most would either be Alva or Guymon, just because we’ve played some of those girls for our whole life so it’s been a battle throughout the years vs both teams.”
