Kingfisher’s Kylee Rojas – athlete spotlight presented by INTEGRIS Hennessey Medical Clinic

Kingfisher’s Kylee Rojas enters her sophomore season after a knee injury cut her inaugural high school season short. Rojas is a center back on the Lady Yellowjacket soccer squad where she’s a leader for the defensive group.

“Kylee is a defender who will cause a lot of problems for offenses,” coach Aniessa Edsall said. “On the field she is tough. I can trust her to take charge and know what needs to be done. She is quick, strong, tough, and aggressive and her work ethic is unmatched.”

Rojas also competes on the Kingfisher cheer squad where they finished top three her freshman season and have qualified for state in each of Rojas’s first two seasons. The Kingfisher cheer squad also finished as the all-state academic team this past season.

Outside of athletics, Rojas is involved in the National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, and student government. Upon graduation Rojas wants to continue playing soccer at the next level while also studying to become a nurse or attend cosmetology school.

When she’s not playing or training for soccer herself, Rojas is training her little sister, Gabriela, with her young soccer career. Rojas also helps around the community in her spare time, most recently helping run errands for the elderly.

“Off the field she is an incredibly intelligent student, and she works very hard,” Edsall said. “I actually was talking to other teachers yesterday and they said she is a great student and she goes the extra mile to ensure she is successful.”

Rojas credits her mom, Misty, and her older brother, Damen, for her success on and off the field.

“My mom is a single parent and has had to do a lot on her own,” Rojas said. “So that’s inspired me with my work ethic. My brother has helped me by taking time out of his own day to train me with soccer. He wants the most for me.”
