Thomas’ Ashlee Purvine – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

As a fifth-generation agriculturalist, Ashlee Purvine of Thomas High School was excited for the day when she was eligible to enroll in the FFA chapter at school.

“I waited for the day I could be an FFA member so when I entered the eighth grade, I joined the FFA and the rest is history,” Purvine said. “Both my father and grandfather were in FFA and received their state and American FFA degrees. Growing up on a farm, agriculture has always been a passion of mine and FFA has given me an outlet to learn about, be involved in, and serve the agriculture industry.”

For Purvine, the FFA is more than just a club to join while in school. It’s a way of life.

“The thing I enjoy most about being in FFA is the people I have met and the friendships I have made. I have made so many lifelong friendships that I am forever grateful for through the FFA,” said Purvine. “I compete in livestock judging, prepared and extemporaneous public speaking and I serve as the Secretary for the chapter. I also exhibit wheat in the state wheat show, show cattle, and sing at various FFA events. I show heifers and steers. I also raise registered and commercial cattle for my Supervised Agricultural Experience. I have also been a member of the American Simmental Association since 2015.”

Away from FFA, you can usually find Purvine on the basketball court.

“Aside from FFA and basketball, I am involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Business Professionals of America, and Yearbook. I am also the Reporter for Student Council. I will also be playing golf in the spring,” said Purvine.

Only a junior, Purvine plans to attend college and double major in Agriculture Communications and Agriculture Business and minor in Agriculture Economics.
