Alva’s Carly Argo – Northwest Technology Center Spotlight

Northwest Tech offers a variety of programs to give high school students a head start on a future career. Carly Argo, who is a senior at Alva High School, is taking advantage of this opportunity.

“I am currently in Biomed II,” Argo said. “I enjoyed Biomed I and Biomed II is a program that can help me towards my career path. Once I graduate, I plan to attend the University of Central Oklahoma in the fall to major in Kinesiology and become a physical therapist. I have enjoyed my time at tech because I feel that it has helped me get out of my comfort zone.”

Carly’s first introduction to Northwest Tech was from some older students at her school. And now, as one of those older students, she says she would recommend tech to anyone that is interested.

“I first heard about the tech through upperclassmen,” she said. “They had talked about the interactive and engaging atmosphere. I would say that there is something for everyone at the vo-tech and the teachers at the tech are very encouraging and always doing what they can to help you succeed.”

In her final year of high school, Argo is a member of Alva’s cross country, basketball, and track teams. Outside of sports, she is also involved in the student council, Key Club, and Health Occupations Students of America.

Throughout her life, there have been people that have helped Carly become the person that she is today. But she says that there is one person that has always been in her corner.

“My dad has been one of my biggest influences because he has always supported me and pushed me to be the best I can be.”

Argo has also enjoyed some memorable moments while competing for Alva. But none were bigger than a team achievement that we was able to share with her teammates.

“My most memorable moment was when my team and I made it to state my junior year in basketball.”
