Alva’s Morgan Heath – Northwest Technology Center Spotlight

Morgan Heath is a senior at Alva High School and she is also attending Northwest Tech to help her prepare for her future. She first heard about the programs offered at tech when she was in junior high, but now as a student there, she is receiving knowledge that will help her the rest of her life.

“Tech is preparing me for my future by teaching me how to work with my peers constantly and use critical thinking skills in the labs,” she said. “I first heard about the tech center during our eighth grade tours. I decided that it was something I was interested in.”

As a student at the Alva campus, Morgan is currently enrolled in Biomed II. She said that program was the obvious next step.

“I am currently enrolled in Biomed II,” she said. “I have completed computer and business and Biomed I. I chose Biomed II because I enjoy learning about science.”

Heath has some advice for those considering tech but are still on the fence.

“I would tell them to make it a priority to fit it into your schedule because the teachers make your day to the best of their ability.”

Along with the classwork load that she carries, Heath is also a member of the Lady Gold Bugs basketball team. And she enjoys being a part of the team.

“The thing I enjoy most about playing sports is the relationships you build and the adrenaline rush that you get when you play,” she said. “The most memorable moment is when we qualified for state in basketball my junior year.”

Once she graduates from high school and completes her tech programs, Morgan plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and major in Exercise Science. She wants to become an athletic trainer at a high school or college.
