Chisholm’s Amy Meeks – Mom of the Month – Presented by The med spa

By Derrick Smith

The role of a parent in the life of a high school student athlete can be a big one. They not only have the role of a parent, they also are a cheerleader, supporter, and mentor among others. Amy Meek has two children that currently play or did play sports at Chisholm High School and she says that she has tried to be as involved as she could with their sports. “In the beginning, I spent time playing catch, shooting baskets and going to all lessons,” she said. “I helped at softball practices and spent countless hours sitting on a bucket catching  my daughter at pitching lessons.  Now, I love cheering my kids and their teammates on during games and catching action shots with my camera when I can for families.”

Meek’s son Braden is currently a junior at Emporia State University and is a member of the baseball team. When he was a student at Chisholm, he played baseball, and football. Allyson, Amy’s daughter, is a senior at Chisholm. She plays softball for the Lady Horns. She started out as a pitcher, but after two shoulder surgeries, she is a utility player. Meek is a graduate of Waynoka High School. As a student athlete, she played basketball, softball, and ran track. Now, she is an Occupational Therapist and Rehab Manager specializing in geriatrics.  In her free time, she loves spending time with family, doing photography, and her kids would say, napping.

Along with being a cheerleader in the stands for her kids, Meek is also involved behind the scenes whenever she can. “I help out with whatever the coaches need,” she said. “I always let them know that they can call on me for whatever the team needs.”

Raising her kids in a community like Chisholm is something that Amy does not regret at all. “I love Chisholm High School,” she said. “It has always been a close supportive community.  I’m a proud Chisholm Longhorn.”
