Chisholm’s Jayden Streck – FCA Spotlight – Presented by Slater Mechanical

By Jay Hoberecht

Jayden Streck is a senior at Chisholm High School and she is making the most of her high school experience. She has attended Chisholm all four years and has been part of a Class 3A state track championship (freshman year, relay team), runs track, is involved in student council, National Honor Society, CCOT (Chisholm Community Outreach Team), FFA, FCA, and after school works at a dance studio. She is taking con-current classes at NOC-Enid this year and will have 15 hours of college credit.

Streck will attend Oklahoma State University in the fall and major in animal science and pre-med with goals to be a veterinarian. Her grandparents had a farm when she was growing up and she began to love animals. She is interning with local veterinarian Dr. Staerkel this school year.

Streck shows goats through the Chisholm FFA program.  She keeps them at home in Hennessey. She told me it takes as “much work as you want to put in it.” She clearly loves animals and puts in the time. Jayden commutes from Hennessey to Chisholm every school day. She likes the drive; it gives her some time of her own to think, listen to music, to unwind. Jayden gets it!

Jayden attended FCA Extreme Camp at Cross Point on Lake Texhoma the summer after her freshman year. Several older girls got her involved with FCA and encouraged her to go to camp. It was lots of fun and the huddle leaders and testimonies impacted her. She had a great experience that deepened her faith and changed her outlook on life. She mentioned she has been disappointed that FCA camps have been cancelled the past two years because of COVID.

I asked Jayden what advice she might give a middle school student. She quickly replied, “Live in the moment!” She also talked about being involved saying, “the more you are involved, the better the experience.”

It was clear that Jayden Streck is making a difference at Chisholm High School.
