LISA NORRIS…leading FCA at Drummond High School

By Jay Hoberecht

Lisa Norris, a Drummond girl, is the counselor at Drummond High School.  One day shortly after Devin Schafer became principal at DHS, Lisa asked Devin about starting FCA.  Devin carefully thought about it and politely replied no.  Lisa had this plan to influence their school and students with an opportunity to be part of an FCA huddle.  Persistence paid off and Principal Schafer said yes.  A decision he is happy he made.  The Drummond High School FCA huddle averages about 25-30 students and has a motto this year, “Be Bold about Jesus”.  The huddle strives to know Him, make Him know and share their faith with others.

Devin Schafer reflecting on his decision said, “God put it in his heart to do FCA.”  He was quick to add that Norris took the “yes” and ran with it.  He gives her all the credit for making it a significant part of their school.  Schafer likes seeing the leadership developing in FCA and the growth of the group.

I talked with Caden Ehardt, a senior at DHS, who joined FCA as a freshman and has seen it grow each year.  He is from a strong Christian background and thinks FCA gives him a chance to be with friends at school growing together as people.  He likes the “unity” he feels with FCA.  Ehardt plays basketball and baseball for the Bulldogs and wants to play baseball in college.

I also got to talk with Bree Morton, a freshman at DHS, who got involved with FCA this year because her friends were involved and it looked fun.  She said, “Her huddle involves a lot of good kids that she can look up to.”  Bree shared she has become friends with a senior that is kind and sweet with a good moral compass.  Bree admires her friend because she always does the right thing.  Bree has also begun attending church.  A great example of FCA influence!

Lisa Norris wears a lot of hats at Drummond High School.  She is making a difference every day investing in the lives of young people.  We need more people like Lisa Norris!
