Enid Cheer – Team Spotlight – Presented by Silver Services

With eight varsity members and nine junior varsity members, Enid High School cheer team is ready for another great year. Taking the Top Team spot at UCA Camp in 2018 as well as 2019, Enid cheer team plans on competing in OSSAA Game Day State competition and is looking for a win to add to their collection.

“Preparing for the upcoming season we went to NCA camp in June and now we are practicing every day to prepare for football season and Game Day Regionals coming up in November,” said head coach Allyson Silver.

The team has two returning seniors and coach Allyson has hopes of her older team members setting great examples for her younger members.

“I am hoping that this year’s team will continue to get the younger girls excited about cheer and be able to continue growing our program,” said coach Allyson.

With a young squad, some coaches might be intimidated, but coach Allyson looks at it as an awesome opportunity.

“All of the incoming freshmen this year were very prepared. I have a young team which is exciting to me. I can have them for all four years and get them to where they need to be. I am also looking forward to Game Day Regionals. My girls are excited about it and are very optimistic this year.”

This year has some unique challenges, but the squad is ready to take them on.

“Coming back from a COVID-19 year will be our hardest challenge. Not having all of the practices I would have liked to have had last year hurt us in preparing for this year. I also lost six graduating seniors last year and that will take a toll on this year’s team as well.”

Entering her second year as head coach for Enid High School, it is coach Allyson’s fourth year coaching with the program.

“I expect my athletes to show up and give 110 percent at everything,” said Coach Allyson. “Our team must keep a positive attitude at all times and be able to go with the flow. If the girls can keep this up, they can conquer anything. Our team is successful because everyone gets along and team effort is what it is all about.”

The members on varsity include Ali Grace Priest, Alyssa Craig, Gabi Nelson, Kaydence McBroom, Lilly Vculek, Kenzie Cronkhite, Madison Underwood and Karys Lam.

The junior varsity team consists of Emily Kinney, Chloe Hudson, Alexis Graham Pritchett, Harley Grow, Vanessa Real, Claudia Miranda, Margo Jeur, Laila Gaytan and Ashley Ramos.
