Hennessey’s Cale Dickens – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Hennessey High School’s Cale Dickens first joined the FFA when he was in middle school. Now a junior, Dickens said being part of FFA was like being part of a team or family.

“I joined the FFA in eighth grade. What I love most about the FFA is that it feels like a family. I am involved because I show cattle and to make myself a better leader but most importantly is to improve my community and myself,” said Dickens.

His parents encouraged him to join FFA and Dickens is now returning the favor to other students at school.

“My advice to anyone considering FFA is to just have fun and if there is something your chapter is doing to help you out, participate. You may not think it’s very fun but, it might be the most fun thing you do. If there is a contest or certain thing you and a few others want to do, talk to your advisor, they might just let you do that,” said Dickens.

Away from FFA, Dickens is a member of the varsity baseball team. Another team where it feels like family.

“I have played baseball since I was in tee-ball. What I love the most about my teammates is that they just have fun,” said Dickens. “I play anywhere on the field my coach puts me but mostly outfield or pitcher if necessary.”

In her free time Dickens said he like to ride his bike, shooting guns, fishing and watching YouTube. His plans after high school include going to college to pursue a bachelor’s degree before earning his master’s in mechanical engineering.
