Hammon’s Harley Travis – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

The path to becoming a member of FFA is a proven one. It’s the same path Hammon High School’s Harley Travis took on her journey to become a member of the FFA chapter at school.

“I got involved in FFA my first year of high school. Before then I was in 4H to show pigs. My brother started showing pigs because a family friend introduced it to us. After my brother started showing I started to show,” said Travis.

Now a junior at Hammon HS, Travis serves as an officer for the chapter while still showing her livestock.

“I enjoy being an officer and showing pigs. I do Parli Pro, I am the treasurer for my chapter,” said Travis.

Travis said anyone interested in FFA should give it a chance.

“Advice that I would give a student that wants to join FFA is to never be afraid to try new things even if it takes you outside of your comfort zone,” said Travis.

Away from FFA, you can find Travis participating with the varsity softball team.

“What I love most about being in softball is being on a team and showing myself what I’m capable of. What I love about my team is that we always bring each other up when we could be having a bad game and it makes me work harder for my teammates,” said Travis.

One person who has been a big influence in her life is her mother.

“My mom has always been a big influence on me. She always pushes me to be the best and work hard for what I want,” said Travis.

After high school, Travis would like to attend college and become a nurse.
