Kingfisher’s Reid Witt – athlete spotlight presented by NBC Bank

Kingfisher’s Reid Witt is already making a name for himself entering his sophomore season on the Yellowjacket soccer team. Reid started every game as a freshman last season as a midfielder, finishing second-best in assists and scoring three goals. After an impressive freshman season, coach Isaac Waltman is excited for what Witt’s future holds.

“Reid has a great and deep understanding of the game of soccer,” Waltman said. “He is one of the most intelligent players I have ever coached. He sees and does things that other players his age wouldn’t even think about. He has great speed and vision with the ball which makes him hard to defend.”

Despite being an underclassman, Reid has already stepped up into a leadership role.

“On the field Reid is like a little general,” Waltman said. “When it comes to communication, I can always trust Reid to be talking to his teammates. Any changes to the attack or defense that are made, he makes sure everyone hears and understands what is needed.”

Outside of athletics, Reid participates in Kingfisher’s 4-H club, where he competes in trap shooting. Upon graduation Reid would like to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level while possibly studying for a degree in animal science. If he’s not playing soccer, Reid’s hanging out with friends, fishing, helping his dad in his shop, or helping his grandfather run his farm.

“Off the field Reid is a fun guy,” Waltman said. “He likes to fish, hunt, and farm. He always does well to keep up with his school work. People who are around him often know that he is a great person to go to for a laugh, a good time, or for a piece of needed advice.”
